BRT
(Boys Resourcing Technology)
Note: This first year (2018-2019) we are excited to have 20 members of the 5th grade signed up to participate in the BRT (Boys Resourcing Technology) mentoring program.
BRT was grown from and supported by WIT (Workforce Industry Training) members for pre-teen boys. The BRT Program provides WIT members an opportunity to give back by interacting and mentoring young elementary and intermediate male students – engaging them in academic activities that impassion these students to stay focused on a strong STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) path. WIT and BRT members should both benefit from this opportunity. These student members are able to meet with each other and share the challenges of being successful well-rounded students. BRT members are able to participate in a wide range of activities that have varied from making Christmas cards for our U.S. troops, playing math and science vocabulary bingo, studying and tutorial activities, robotics competition preparation, and SOS (science on Saturday) engagement. These activities are determined by the mentoring WIT organization. BRT has created a spark that has ignited a unique collaborative, nurturing relationship between older and younger students interested in perusing STEM.
The program is a yearlong commitment between the WIT member mentor and a BRT mentee.

Letter Sent to 5th Grade Parents:
Dear Parent or Guardian:
Your son has been selected to participate in an exciting mentoring program BRT (Boys Resourcing Technology) being brought to the 5th graders at EB Junior High School by the East Bernard High School WIT organization.
WIT stands for Workforce Industry Training. This year’s organization consists of 4 female and 20 male HS student members who have an interest in science, technology, engineering and/or math (STEM), and are recognized as positive role models in their school. Because of their interest, values, and character, these members have decided to reach out to a younger generation, as mentors, hoping to make a difference and instill in them a desire to reach their potential. They understand the value of mentoring, since they themselves are experiencing mentoring activities by professionals.
By becoming a part of BRT, your son will have the opportunity to spend supervised time with the WIT members every other month during the HS lunch period or HS activity period. Time spent together will be valuable for your son in that he will gain knowledge, encouragement, and an awareness of the opportunities that await him by positive EBHS role models.
If you are interested in BRT and the WIT mentoring program and feel that it would make a positive difference in the life of your son, please complete and return the attached TEES Photo Media Release form and permission slip which gives permission for your son to participate and to travel to East Bernard High School every other month to have lunch or participate in an activity with the WIT mentors.
If you have any questions you may contact EB Junior High Principal David Janecek , or EBHS Principal,or the WIT sponsor Karen Riley.
We’ve included a WIT brochure to give you additional basic information about the program.
