TAMU College Station (Fall)

As a partner organization, TAMU is home to many departments and facilities that support exploration of nuclear applications, clean technologies, and manufacturing.  Potential site visits include:

  • The Electron Beam Facility for developing nuclear applications in food safety and health. One of their goals “is to reduce the use of radioactive cobalt-60 and cesium-137 from commercial use. Though these technologies have fed and saved millions of lives by their use in medicine and agriculture

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES FOR SPRING 2024 

Galveston College (Spring)

 Nuclear Medicine Technology Program: Learn how nuclear medicine contributes to medicine concerned with diagnostic, therapeutic and investigative uses of radioactive materials.

Apex Stone (Spring)

Manufacturing: Natural stone veneer, flooring, fireplace surrounds, door/ window surrounds.  Tour fabrication shops: larger-than-life gang saw, multiple 5 axis CNC saws, and hand-carving stations.  They provided hands on activities for students last spring
